About Your Career
How did you end up in this field?
I graduated from Ohio State University in 2014 with a focus on wealth management and originally thought I'd be helping people manage their investments and retirement planning. Right out of college, though, I was hired by a bank as a mortgage financial analyst, and that's what pulled me into the mortgage industry.
I spent about seven years working in capital markets there before transitioning to another bank in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I continued in a similar role for a few more years. Eventually, I felt like I had accomplished a lot in that space and was ready for something new, but I didn't want to leave all that knowledge behind.
When an opportunity came up at LauraMac, and I had the chance to work with a former colleague and mentor again, it felt like the right fit and I joined LauraMac in May 2025 as a Client Success Manager. What I really enjoy is being able to use my mortgage and capital markets background to help clients get the most out of the platform and solve problems that impact their business. I've been here a little over a year now, and things have really started to click.
What does a day in your role look like?
I'm located in Ohio, which is east coast, but most of my clients are in the mountain time zone. That actually gives me a little bit of quiet time in the morning, which is valuable.
I usually spend my first hour or two organizing my day, following up on outstanding items, responding to emails, and making sure I have a plan before things get busy. Once my clients start their day, things pick up pretty quickly.
From there, it's usually a full schedule of client meetings, issue resolution, enhancement discussions, project reviews, and planning sessions. Some days we're troubleshooting problems, and other days we're talking about new ways clients can use the platform to improve processes or support business growth. Every day is a little different, which is one of the things I enjoy most about the role.
General Life
What do your weekends typically look like?
My weekends are very family oriented. My wife and I have three small kids, ages 6, 5, and 3, so we are very busy doing all of the things. My wife and I both work full-time, so when weekends come, we clean the house, we tend to the lawn, we take our kids to activities that they have going on. Sometimes we’ll realize throughout the week that we haven’t all sat down for dinner or spent time together, so on the weekends, we prioritize family time.
Do you have any talents/hobbies?
Outside of golf, one of my biggest interests has always been music. What's funny is that my taste is all over the place. I can listen to everything from The Beatles and the Beach Boys to country music, hip-hop, and just about anything in between.
Growing up, my parents listened to a huge variety of music, and I think that's where it started. Along with music, I've always been fascinated by dancing. It probably started with watching Michael Jackson and evolved from there. Later it was people like Usher and Chris Brown who made me think, "How do they even move like that?"
I never pursued dancing seriously, but I definitely became known among friends for being the guy who would break out dance moves at school dances or weddings.
